Royal Wedding Celebrators

Our Friday Free Sew ladies all dressed up to celebrate the Royal Wedding today and I couldn't resist taking a picture of them.
Are they cute or what?
I heard some of them actually got up in the middle of the night to watch the wedding live but, they still made it to free sew!
That is dedication for ya!
Kudos to them!
It was a fun day!

We have all the coordinates for these quilts!
Perfect for Father's Day!

We also got in a few fabrics from the America the Beautiful Collections including this panel with 5 pictures of our national bird the Bald Eagle:
We thought these would be perfect for our
Quilts of Valor quilters.
Fun Facts about our National Bird:
As of 2007 Bald Eagles are not on the Endangered Species list anymore- they are however still a protected species.
There are 9,789 breeding pairs of Bald Eagles. Once paired they only breed together so long as they both live though, they will separate during the non-mating season and find eachother again during the breeding season. They lay 1-3 eggs in nests built in tall large trees near rivers or a coast.
Bald Eagles have 7,000 feathers, weigh 10-14 lbs, live up to 30 years, can lift up to 4 lbs and have a wingspan of 72-90".  They can fly up to 10,000 feet in the air and can reach speeds of 30-35 mph during level flight (even higher during dives). Eagles are strong swimmers which help them catch their favorite food- fish.
The call of a bald eagle is not the beautiful sound you hear in the movies. That call is actually made most commonly by a Red Tailed Hawk.
The Bald Eagle became our National Bird by only one vote: the turkey was the very close runner up!

Gift Idea

We just got these in yesterday. They are blank greeting cards with a little window for you to put a tiny quilt block in AND it comes with the little paper pieced pattern shown but, you could put anything you'd like in the box. They come 4 to a pack with the envelopes.

A piece of the card folds and sticks down over your block to make it all finished and pretty inside. The cards are made of a soft heavy paper.

Deb cleverly ran out to the classroom during Free Sew Friday and made a sample.

What a cute card for any quilting friend!

Batiks that Care

A small company called Fabrics that Care has some pretty batiks we decided to try out.
Hot yellows and Oranges:
 Fuschia mixing to pastels:
 Pinks:
 Black and White textures:
 Peach tones:

We recently rearranged the store a bit and are really pleased at how much more organized it is.  The wide quilt backing fabrics are up on a shelf and look so much more organized and attractive.  We are making room for more fabrics!! Stay tuned.

Classes and other doings

We have had a flurry of classes lately.  So much creativity and so many beautiful quilts!  I am so inspired by everyone's projects!
Here are some of the ladies from the Ivy Twist class:

On  Wednesday, May 4th Becky Goldsmith from Piece O' Cake designs is coming as part of her visit to Tri-County Quilt Guild and she plans to teach hand applique at Quilters Crossing! The class is nearly filled so if you are interested- sign up and pay ASAP to reserve your spot!
Also we have been receiving Mug Rugs for the swap! I am so pleased we already have 3 swappers (besides myself!) in the first week! You guys rock! Such cute designs, I can't wait to see what other swappers come up with! Remember you have until the end of May so there is plenty of time for you to make one ( or more!!).
