Quilt Across Texas 2013 Shop Hop

The shop hop begins September 1st, but we are in full swing at the shop with preparations for the shop hop! 

Here is the quilt we designed with the fabric from the line:

Kits will be available September 1st 

but you can reserve your kit now if you would like.

More pincushions have been turned in! You still have a couple more days to participate in the swap! These two are both by Nancys as it happens!

This week we received a shipment of fabric from Moda called Sew Stitchy and can you believe it had fabric with pins printed on it? How cute and fitting for our swap!

The whole line is adorable here is a focal fabric with hexagons printed on it:

 while mom and Grandma discussed fabric options he made himself comfortable in the batiks.

Quilt Across Texas 2012 Begins!

"Anytown,Texas"

This is our Quilt Across Texas shop quilt. Patterns and kits are available as of September 1st.

The center panel has facts about Tomball, Texas but, you could feature your own town on your quilt.

Here are some close ups:

Tomball was founded in 1907,

but was originally called Peck. It was renamed Tomball after Thomas Ball. It became a larger town because of the railroad and The Depot has just recently been restored and is a community centerpoint for activities in town.

 Across Main Street from The Depot is "Relics by the Railroad" a sweet little grouping of shops, a tea room and the nicest quilt shop around! Downtown Tomball also has a nice Farmer's Market on weekend mornings.

 These are the exact latitude and longitude of Tomball according to the Tomball Chamber of Commerce.

September will bring us lots of new faces and we can't wait to meet you all! Don't forget your Passports!

Sumatra Batiks from Blank/Quilt Across TEXAS

So we gave Deb the day off on Monday-- something about never (ever) having a day off or something.... sooooo, Nancy and I were playing at the shop today and opened this ordinary brown box brought in by our dependable UPS man and found this bright colorful, vibrant collection of batiks! 

 So Pretty! It made our day.

We will be open 7 days a week through the month of September to give shop hoppers as much time as we can to get to all the shops.

Open House and more news!

Just a reminder that our open house is Saturday from 9:30-2:30 and the store will be open until 4:30pm. It is traditionally very busy before 1 pm and then things settle down a bit, if you are looking to time your outing for thinner crowds.

Open house is the day when all our teachers are invited to come in with their samples and show off the classes they are offering at our shop in the coming months. It's like a quilt show out there in the classroom and we have refreshments and snacks too!

 In the shop there is a store wide 25% off sale- fabrics(1/2 yard cuts or more), precut fabrics, notions, thread, and patterns!

The pincushion swap has been receiving some interest and you still have 3 weeks to turn yours in!

We have two turned in already! (see the pictures above) Rhonda used her embroidery machine for these and they are both nice and heavy filled--with ground walnut shells and made of wool.  We now have ground walnut shells available at the shop.

I also noted, around the store, we have several patterns for pincushions if you are someone who prefers to follow a pattern rather than invent one yourself! Check these out:

Curio and some Customer Finishes!

Quilt Across Texas is still going strong! 

Seeing more and more stamps in the guide books and the fabric line is really flying off the shelves. 

Thank you for the kind compliments about our sample quilt.

This week we got a beautiful line of fabric in from Moda called Curio:

We had some beautiful customer work brought into the shop this week too:

This is the Dakota horse pattern with several prints and batiks put to brilliant use by Kim! She sure picked a beautiful background to spotlight this machine appliqued horse! 

 Gillian was inspired to do a little sewing by the Moda Hometown line and she made the Frenchy Bag!

New Fabrics

We have received several new fabric lines in the last few weeks and every time I walk in the store I start making mental lists of what I am going to make, for who and for which of the upcoming holidays, birthdays and baby showers.  

I hope you find them as inspiring as I do!

Urban Camo
