Susi's It Takes a Village class is always a big hit!

Both Cherri and Shari had fun!
 Vicki- working away!
It is a mixed media class- here is a student doing the painting step!

Note the painted windows and doors above.
Loved the use of toole on the sun, it looks like it is really beaming!
 Great job everyone!

Primrose Garden by Riley Blake Fabrics

We get a lot of calls about Riley Blake fabric lines, as they are a smaller company not as many shops carry them but we try to have a few available.
This fabric line has been selling well this week, turquoise and red are a popular color combination!
This line comes has beautiful art and colors, it also has a panel with instructions to make a 18" doll outfit, which I have done. It is at the shop as you can see in the pictures below. Now to sew something for me from this line! So pretty!

 Apron is reversible!
I was amazed at how much time it saves not having to cut out and pin on a pattern to make clothing! I just started cutting out the pieces and sewing! Much more successful than my previous forays into doll clothes making let me tell you!
The Panel is less than $8 for a whole American Girl or any other 18" doll outfit! Such a great price compared to the doll catalogs!! The outfit has multiple options too, you can make it as I have or a sleeveless version with a red bodice etc...

Boyfriend fabric

So five years ago I took a class from Cara Gulati, we later became friends because, well, she is just sort of awesome!

Anyway...Cara saw me stroking one of my fabrics that I was just in love with and I was reluctant to cut even though I had picked it and brought it for the quilt we were making in class.
When I explained my dilemma she said very simply, "Oh it's your boyfriend fabric!"
She went on to explain what "boyfriend fabric" was- (it is different for everyone) but in a nutshell : a fabric you just gotta have, you have a crush on it but you can't make the commitment to cut it and use it in a project because then you couldn't sit and look at it anymore. It is so pretty you have to buy it but you can't bear to use it because then it would be gone!  You get my drift...
Oh yes! I had "boyfriend fabric" for sure!
Fast forward 5 years:
Okay so at the shop this week we doubled our Kaffe Fassatt collection. When we opened the box I knew I was in trouble. There were several "boyfriend fabrics" in there.
Yup and a few other customers felt the puppy love as well!
Thankfully we can all have a piece of these, without breaking up any relationships!
