Pincushion Swap!

I don't know if any of you have developed the Pinterest addiction yet but we have! Surfing through all the fun project ideas on there has blossomed into an idea for a swap at the shop.
from Heather Bailey's Fresh Picked pattern
So without further delay we are announcing a Pincushion swap!
You may make your pincushion as small as a bottle cap or up to 8 inches in size, out of whatever materials you choose, provided it does function as a pincushion. It may also have other added features if you choose it to, such as a needle holder, thread catcher or scissor pocket though you are not limited to these options!

IN ADDITION:
1. You must make the pincushion of course! Creative originals are welcome or you may use a pattern if you choose to do so, please list the pattern on the sheet when you turn it in to credit the pattern's author.
***Remember you aren't getting yours back so if you love it you may want to make two so you have one to keep for yourself!***
2. Give what you would like to receive in terms of quality and usefulness.
3. Embellish (as much as you'd like, as long as embellishments do not render the pincushion unusable). Beading, and embroidery etc... is welcome and encouraged.
4. Mixed media is welcome ( cotton, wool, felt, etc...).
5. You will receive one pincushion for every pincushion you turn in and they will be randomly assigned to their new owners by us!

Pincushions must be dropped off between the dates: August 1, 2012 and September 15, 2012.
You can pick up your new pincushion(s) starting September  22, 2012 (so that we may display all your beautiful work in the shop for a week).
No purchase is necessary to participate in this swap.
Local participants only please- no mail ins- Sorry!
Have fun creating your little works of art!

Show and Tell

Carolyn has taught several intricate paper piecing classes over the last few months at the shop with rave reviews from her students.
Last weekend she invited her students to a "show and tell" to share what they had done and share works in progress. She provided lots of delicious nibbles of savory food and encouragement for those not yet finished.
Here are some of her students work:
Marge (Mildred)'s Prairie Star coming along:
Valerie's Bali Wedding ready to put all the pieces together!
Mary's Prairie Star coming along beautifully too:
Marilou had her bedrunner top completed ready to be quilted!
Way to go Carolyn and students for such beautiful pieces and thank you for sharing them with us! Watch for more of Carolyn's classes to be debuted at our open house on August 25!

We also received a flannel line with some muted holiday colors but, which could also look wintery as well for those who choose not to focus on Santa etc... for their seasonal decor. These came in a couple weeks ago but they haven't made it into a blog post so I thought I better take a picture!
With all these cute fabrics I may actually be inspired to start my holiday sewing a little early!
